MOOC (Massive Online Open Courses), SPOC (Small Private Open Courses), FOAD (open distance training), digital resources… there are many online and distance training possibilities to train from your home.

 

SEVERAL POSSIBILITIES

Be sure to differentiate between:

  • MOOC: Massive Onlive Open Course , free, offered on a platform and for a session limited in time. Getting certified can pay off. A MOOC does not issue a diploma , it will provide you with additional training on a specific subject.
  • SPOC: Small Private Open Course , i.e. a MOOC but reserved for around thirty previously selected participants. A SPOC is like a virtual classroom and is chargeable.
  • An ODL: Open distance training , offered by an establishment, open to everyone, flexible and flexible in the pace and educational organization and not based only on face-to-face. 
    An ODL can lead to obtaining a diploma . If the training followed leads to a diploma, you will obtain a student card and you will have to pay the registration fees.
     
  • An  access to digital resources (videos, exercises, lectures, quizzes, guides ...), online and for free, to complement and deepen knowledge, without registration and without graduating .

"FUN", THE FRENCH MOOC PLATFORM

FUN

France has its MOOC (Massive Online Open Courses) platform : it is called FUN for “France Université Numérique” and offers more than 300 online courses, free and open to all. You will even find courses in English! More than 80 French establishments are participating.

Nearly 50 training topics are offered. Classes start throughout the year; the start of the school year does not necessarily take place in September.

The online training catalog of French higher education institutions

Registering for distance learning in a French higher education institution is currently the best way to get closer to the campus of the institution that will welcome you for the year 2020/2021 if you cannot come to France due to the epidemic situation in your country. The "My distance learning" catalog   allows you to search for an  online diploma course which will be  100% remote or a hybrid course  (distance and on-site).

Interuniversity

The Interuniversity Federation for Distance Education is an association recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. Its goal is to federate in a network the universities which have developed distance and online education. You can find the training that interests you by searching by field, discipline or degree .

For example, the CNAM (National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts) provides nearly 500 courses accessible remotely through its PLEI @ D platform . The CIEP - Center International d'Etudes Pédagogiques, the CNED - National Center for Distance Studies, the network of Greta-Groupings of Establishments for adult training (with the e-Greta platform) are also developing their open training courses. remotely.

Other distance learning courses are also listed in the distance learning catalog of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.

DIGITAL UNIVERSITY: ACCESS ONLINE EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES

THEMATIC DIGITAL UNIVERSITIES

Thematic Digital Universities (UNT) were created in 2005 by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. They are organized into eight areas: basic sciences with UNISCIEL , the legal and political sciences with UNJF , the health and sport with UNESS , the environment and sustainable development with UVED , the economy and management with AUNEGE , the humanities and the arts with UOH , the engineering sciences and technology with UNIT , and the Technological University Institutes with IUTenligne .

UNTs do not issue diplomas but offer more than 34,000 digital educational resources of different types  : videos, exercises, complete course with lessons and quizzes, MOOCs, etc. These resources are accessible online, to everyone and free of charge .

The UNTs have come together within a common portal: The Digital University They also supply a common video library: Canal U , the digital video library for higher education and research, where conferences, seminars, documentaries and educational clips are available free of charge online .

All the resources offered by the Thematic Digital Universities are accessible from the catalog of self-training resources of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation .

TRAINING PROVIDED IN FRENCH

The Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie has encouraged the development of online (MOOC) and distance (FOAD) training for higher education institutions in French-speaking countries. Its network offers more than 100 degrees (from bachelor's to master's 2) and a wide range of online courses open to all. You can find them on the AUF website dedicated to ODL and MOOC .

IDNEUF

In collaboration with the University of Valenciennes (France) and La Teluq (Quebec), AUF has created a meta-portal called IDNEUF - Initiative for the Digital Development of the Francophone University Space It offers nearly 50,000 educational resources of different types (courses, tutorials, exercises, guides, etc. ) which are shared, on a voluntary basis, by members of the French-speaking university community. IDNEUF is aimed at many audiences (students, professors, teacher-researchers, engineers, technicians) who share a common interest in the use of digital technology for education.

MOOC FRANCOPHONE

 Remember to consult the MOOC Francophone search engine which lists all the online courses taught in French . They are classified by type of course (free or paid), by disciplines, by platforms that offer them and by establishments that provide them.

  • TV5 Monde, the French-speaking television channel, offers a MOOC to learn French for all levels. You will be able to enrich your vocabulary and your grammatical knowledge, but also to better understand French-speaking cultures; all with varied, interactive and multilingual exercises. TV5 Monde also offers webdocs, games, workshops, challenges and tests on its platform  Parlons français, c'est easy . 
     
  • RFI Savoirs , the French-speaking radio channel, offers exercises, files and programs to learn and teach French.
     
  • The French Association for Adult Education offers MOOCs, including one devoted to FLE-French as a Foreign Language to provide beginners with the first basics of the French language.
  • The French Alliances are many to offer online courses to learn French. Visit the alliance site near you to learn more.

PREPARATIONS FOR STUDIES IN FRANCE

With the FILIPE e-learning program , you can prepare and facilitate your scientific and technological studies in France. It is a linguistic , intercultural and scientific preparation  intended for non-French-speaking students for their pursuit of study in France after license.

Together In France

 

The France Terre Asile association has designed a permanently available MOOC to better understand the French Republic and its values: Together in France , with an approach that is both historical and daily. The platform and the educational path are bilingual French-English. More than 50 videos are subtitled in French, English, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, Russia, Mandarin, Pashto, Farsi and Tamil. The platform also offers modules for learning French (FLE).
