The first Campus France Kenya alumni event for the year 2020 was held at the Alliance Française on the 28th of January. The event was graced by Campus France alumni and other great speakers who shared various interesting stories.

Campus France Kenya had its first alumni event of the year held at the Alliance Française de Nairobi on the 28th of January 2020. The PechaKucha event was graced by a multiple of Campus France alumni and several other speakers who shared their experiences about the French education and living.

Other partners of this event were Alliance Française and AFRAKEN.

The theme for this event was ‘People and their Passion.’ Each speaker who took to the stage gave a presentation about their passion in life. Generally just explaining why they took a specific liking to that which they were presenting.

PechaKucha is a Japanese word meaning chit chat. The idea of this storytelling event started off small in Tokyo way back in 2003 but is now spread to over 700 countries worldwide. The platform is designed for young designers, artists or entrepreneurs to showcase their art in a relaxed manner.  They are given the opportunity to share their work with the public and create networks which will eventually help them succeed in their businesses. People took a liking to this mode of event planning and within no time, the event blew up and spread worldwide.

Since the event is an audiovisual one, how it works is each presenter is given the task to come up with a 20 slide presentation. The speaker should only spend 20 seconds on each slide to present their stories to their audience.  This format was designed to be this fast in order to allow many presenters to showcase their talents or present their stories in one event.

This technique used in this event has attracted many because it is a completely different method of entertainment as well as educating the people. Here, real people are sharing their real experiences and are able to gather ideas on how to better their craft from the suggestions they get from the crowd.
